THE WILD COAST
DISCOVER THE MAGIC OF THE WILD COAST
Wild, untamed and breathtakingly beautiful, South Africa's Wild Coast remains one of the country's last truly unspoiled destinations. Here, dramatic cliffs meet endless beaches, rolling green hills tumble towards the sea, and traditional Xhosa villages dot a landscape rich in culture, history and natural beauty.
At the heart of this spectacular coastline lies Hole in the Wall, one of South Africa's most iconic natural landmarks. Towering above the ocean, this remarkable rock arch has been sculpted by centuries of wind and waves, creating a sight that is both dramatic and unforgettable. Local Xhosa folklore adds an air of mystery to the formation, making it as fascinating as it is beautiful.
But the Wild Coast offers far more than a single landmark. This extraordinary region invites visitors to slow down, reconnect with nature and embrace the simple pleasures of life. Spend your days exploring secluded beaches, hiking along rugged coastal trails, fishing from rocky points or pristine shores, discovering hidden waterfalls, and watching cattle and horses wander freely across the landscape and even along the beach.
Adventure seekers can enjoy surfing, kayaking, mountain biking, fishing and trail running, while those seeking relaxation can simply unwind to the rhythm of the ocean and the warmth of local hospitality. The rich Xhosa culture, vibrant traditions and welcoming communities add a depth and authenticity that make every visit memorable.
The Wild Coast is also a year-round destination. Long summer days are perfect for swimming, beach walks and outdoor adventures, while the mild winter months offer clear skies, comfortable temperatures and excellent hiking, fishing and whale-watching opportunities.
Explore Coffee Bay and Beyond

Known as the gateway to the Wild Coast, Coffee Bay is home to a selection of welcoming restaurants, cafés, local markets and bars where visitors can enjoy fresh seafood, local cuisine and spectacular ocean views.
Coffee Bay is also a hub for outdoor adventure. Visitors can enjoy horse riding along the beach, guided hikes, kayaking, surfing lessons, fishing charters and cultural tours to nearby Xhosa villages. The area's dramatic coastline, hidden coves and rolling green hills provide endless opportunities for exploration and photography.
Whether you're looking for a relaxed lunch overlooking the ocean, an afternoon of adventure, or an opportunity to experience the rich culture and hospitality of the Wild Coast, Coffee Bay offers something for every traveller and makes an excellent day trip from Kamnandi Cottages.
